There’s a booklet out there, “My Experiences with Exorcisms,” that’s certainly fascinating.
Is it accurate? Can a layman state some of the things the author does?
Unusual and in some cases controversial assertions there are indeed! They are submitted for discernment only.
First, his background:
Dr. Michael D. Miesch, Jr. [above, with his younger brother] was born on a cotton farm in Red River County Texas in 1934. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in entomology (the study of insects) and retired after forty years working as a chemist doing research, formulation, and product development. He and wife Ann, married for 60 years, have three sons and five grandchildren. As a staunch Roman Catholic, Mike has been a daily communicant since 1970, and he and Ann are Lay Dominicans and members of the Serra Club. Dr. Miesch and his wife rise at five every morning and pray for two hours before Mass. His full paper on exorcism, for those who want to peruse it, is here.
“This is not a paper on Catholic doctrines or teachings,” he says. “This is a paper on private revelations and understanding that my prayer partners and I received while in prayer. This paper has not been accepted nor approved by the Catholic Church. On March 24, 2019 the Lord said, ‘My Son, I am pleased with the paper you have written on exorcism. You are not to be concerned about what people think. Your job is
to get this paper out.’”
More on one unusual claim in a moment.
The paper is big on use of Holy Water.
Of special importance — and no surprise here — is the Archangel Michael.
“Ask St. Michael, St. Raphael, and St. Gabriel to pour Holy Water on the Spirits,” says his booklet. “Holy Water will bring them to their knees and repentance quickly. The Archangels can do a better job with Holy Water than we can. Asking St. Michael to use his Sword (the Word of God) is very effective. I have often asked St. Michael the Archangel to place these evil spirits into a pool of Holy Water. The evil spirits will quickly give up.”
The word [he allegedly received]: “Is not My Word like a mighty hammer that crushes the rock to pieces. Send forth My Word and crush the rock of its heart (pride),” which, he adds, “is very effective in dealing with evil spirits and bringing them to repentance. Jeremiah 23:29: Is not My word like fire says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks in pieces the rock?’
“These were the words the Lord gave me to pray when there is someone in Purgatory, who refuses to repent. Prayer partners with the gifts of discernment are essential in dealing with evil spirits. When an exorcist just reads the prayer of exorcism, he really does not know what spirit or spirits he is dealing with or what is going on, unless he has the gift of discernment. Prayers are more effective when two or more are praying together with someone with the gift of discernment.
“The gift of tongues is also essential in dealing with evil spirits. Evil spirits hate the gift of tongues. Dream in which I was among my wife’s American Indian relatives: I prayed for an Indian boy who was healed. The Lord said: The Indian boy does not represent one person, but a healing of the generations. The sins and curses of the fathers are passed down to the 3rd and 4th generations. Pray for the healing of the generation. Plead the blood of Jesus as a filter between all communications between generations. (When the fathers do not obey God, our Father, it can affect their children and their descendants for 150 years or more.)”
Heavy stuff. Take what is good from any private revelation, and leave the rest, Scripture also tells us.
When we reached out to him with a few questions, including one on to what extent evil spirits cause illness, and how many of us harbor them, Dr. Miesch replied, “I believe that people have no idea the number of spirits they are carrying. Spirits do not necessarily leave just because a sin has been repented of and forgiven. I believe spirits remain dormant when a sin is forgiven. I believe resentment, unforgiveness, and hatred can bring on serious sickness.
“In a number of cases, the Lord has indicated that the person I am praying for is not in Heaven nor purgatory. They are wandering the earth. They can harass people. Places that are haunted, can be set free through prayer, having a Mass said, etcetera. You need the gift of discernment to discern whether it is an evil spirit or a human spirit. Children who were aborted often appear in the rooms of their parents or grandparents.”
On June 1, 2009, says the entomologist, a woman named Sylvia was having problems with her ex-husband who was trying to get custody of their two children. The ex-husband’s new wife and mother-in-law were involved, it seems, in the occult and witchcraft.
“A friend told Sylvia that, while she was going through a divorce, she read the exorcism prayer in the Roman Ritual daily for the protection of her children,” writes Dr. Miesch. “[The friend] suggested that Sylvia read the prayer of exorcism daily for protection of her family. The word Simeon came to Sylvia while she was reading the prayer of exorcism from the Roman Ritual specifically when reading the name Elymas, the sorcerer.
“[Prayer partner] Jeff, Ann, and I prayed for discernment and understanding about Simeon.
“Simeon, in Acts 8:9, was a magician who practices magic. We believe Simeon was a powerful witchcraft spirit that was being used by Sylvia’s ex-husband and family against her and her children. When I came against this witchcraft spirit, Jeff saw a very large land lizard, larger than an alligator. I commanded the spirit to repent and accept Jesus as its Lord and Savior. I quoted the scripture, ‘Is not My Word like a mighty hammer that crushes the rock to pieces. Send forth My Word and crush the rock of its heart.’ The lizard started twisting and turning and became very nervous. When I asked St. Raphael the Archangel to pour Holy Water on the lizard and for St. Michael the Archangel to whip him with the Sword (Word of God), the lizard started growling.”
On March 1, 2004:
“Jeff and I received Communion and started reading the prayers of exorcism from the Roman Ritual for four days before getting together to pray. Jimmy was not with us when we prayed. While praying, Jeff received understanding that we needed to deal with the following spirits:
“Deceiving Spirit – We took authority over a deceiving spirit and commanded it to repent and accept Jesus as its Lord and Savior. The deceiving spirit was an awful-looking creature with snake-like scales on its arms and body. The spirit fell to the floor wiggling and rolling around and began shedding its skin like a snake. A beautiful human-like creature came out of the shed skin, bowed his head down, lifted his arm and ascended into the kingdom.
“Lying Spirit – When we commanded the lying spirit to repent and accept Jesus as its Lord and Savior, the spirit fell and rolled around on the ground and suddenly rose up with his hands into the air and ascended into heaven.
“Unforgiving Spirit – There were a dozen or so unforgiving spirits with one large spirit standing in front. When we commanded the leader to repent and accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he fell to the ground and started crawling, then raised his arms and ascended into heaven. When we took authority over the other unforgiving spirits, they also ascended into Heaven in like manner.
“The Lord said, “This is enough for now.”
“When these [human] spirits repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they are transformed into beautiful white human-like persons.”
If true, are such spirits truly demonic — already condemned — or earthbound souls: human?
Can a dark force really turn so suddenly into one acceptable to Heaven?
Quite a claim — one we’ll file in a “suspense account.”
Here’s a point this week: gratitude to God casts out evil. When we have gratitude, He brightens all the more in our lives.
Thanksgiving.
An opportunity indeed.
