Igniting the spirit of faith hope and love
You’ve seen it all over the news, of course — that Chinese balloon, shot down after wafting over parts of the U.S., in a provocative manner.
What is China up to? What message are they sending?
One area it glided over is Malmstrom Air Force Base, which maintains a hundred and fifty Minuteman III intercontinental missiles across nearly fourteen square miles in Montana, known as America’s “doomsday” base.
This all comes in the wake of those sensational Navy reports of “UFOs” that, in some cases, may have been sophisticated new Chinese or Russian drones (or our own: secret ones, going through a testing phase — so secretive and Area-51-like that not even Navy brass is aware of them).
There is North Korea: It’s playing around with nuclear weapons and brazenly testing them again. Soon, that renegade country, or Iran, or both, will have ballistic missiles capable of striking Europe and North America (or delivering such weapons via: a balloon, which could create an electromagnetic pulse knocking out electrical power over huge swaths of a country).
Most importantly, there is Russia and the fact that Pope Francis increasingly seems to be correct in calling what is transpiring in Ukraine “World War Three.”
Russian officials right up to Vladimir Putin have had no qualms threatening use of nuclear devices on the West — something unthinkable — even just the threat — a few short years ago.
“Fear not!” said the great Pontiff, Saint John Paul II.
But: is it prudent to prepare?
Our time — any time — is a time for preparation. Our time is precarious.
Supposedly, China was in a secret at the controversial apparitions in Lipa, Philippines. A few years before his death in 2017, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal revealed a secret message entrusted by the Blessed Virgin on October 17, 1949, to Teresita Castillo, the seer of the apparitions of Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace at Lipa Carmel. “Pray hard for China’s dream to invade the whole world. The Philippines is one of its favorites. Money is the evil force that will lead the people of the world to destruction.” The great mystic Maria Esperanza once prophesied that “the yellow races will stand up.”
Preparation, not panic. Prayer, instead of pandemonium.
Every era has its challenges.
But whether from world situations, or local storms that can knock out power, it is not a bad idea to have a few weeks or months’ worth of stored food (canned items, perhaps tuna, rice, pasta, peanut butter; the list is long); water or a way of purifying it; medical supplies, and so forth. It’s why we have long had a link to a “ready” store that offers freeze-dried food and other such items [see below].
Something many don’t think about — in that little store of items –are iodide tablets. Iodide is an ion of iodine and the tablets help prevent thyroid problems (including tumors) in the event of exposure to radiation. They do that because iodine is readily absorbed in the thyroid, in the same way radioactive atoms are — leaving less or no room in the thyroid for those radioactive particles.
Thus, by binding to and neutralizing these toxins, iodide tablets can help to reduce the risk of developing thyroid cancer.
The less radiation, the lower our carcinogenic risk.
It doesn’t have to be detonation of a nuclear bomb nearby. A radioactive incident far away — even in Asia, the Middle East, or eastern Europe — can send enough radiation aloft to end up in the air and rain of distant nations. It then can collect in drinking sources, crops, and agricultural animals (“bioaccumulate”).
Has China threatened like Russia?
In 2013, Chinese media crowed that the country’s submarines could launch nuclear attacks on cities such as Los Angeles and Seattle, causing radiation in appreciable amounts as far east as Chicago.
“Fear not.”
But: vigilance.
Remember that meltdown of a nuclear reactor at Chernobyl — in Ukraine?
The Chernobyl disaster released huge amounts of iodine-131, cesium-137, and strontium-90 into the atmosphere and this spread across Europe in the days and weeks following the accident.
Call it “wormwood” (a bitter herb that in Ukraine translates as “Chernobyl”). See Revelation 8:11: “The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”)
And how about Fukushima?
That incident — a tsunami and a concomitant nuclear reactor disaster in northern Japan — sent radiation throughout the ecosystem of the northern Pacific, contaminating fish as far away as the shores of California and Canada (a distance of five thousand miles).
Did you know that unusually high rates of cancer were noted in Utah and other states due to atmospheric nuclear tests decades ago in Nevada?
No one needs to consume radioactive fish — or radioactive anything.
So, prudence and preparation; not stress, not panic. With Jesus comes the greatest protection.
He’ll guide you as to what to get or not to get. Maybe you want to have items on hand in case of events, likely or unlikely.
Maybe you’ll feel no such need. “Fear not!”
Preparation?
Discernment.
It makes sense, whether a balloon or hurricane that moves overhead.
[resources: emergency supplies, iodide tablets, and It’s A Disaster!]
[Footnote: Iodide tablets work to protect the thyroid gland from developing cancer in two ways. First, they provide a steady supply of iodide to the body. This helps to ensure that the thyroid gland is able to produce the hormones it needs to regulate metabolism. Secondly, iodide tablets also act as a scavenger for dangerous chemicals that can damage the thyroid gland. These chemicals can come from environmental toxins or from certain medications. However, follow these guidelines set forth by the CDC. As with anything, there can be side effects.]
