In the new book Future Events, one of the private revelations focused upon was that of Fatima seer Sister Lucia dos Santos, whereby, in 1944, she was granted an “enlightenment” on the meaning of the famous Third Secret, which had that now-famous image of an angel ready to torch the earth with a fiery spear or sword (but restrained from doing so — at least for the time being — by the Blessed Mother).

That so-called enlightenment explained, ““The tip of the spear as a flame unlatches and touches the axis of the earth. It shudders. Mountains, cities, towns, and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, the rivers, and the clouds emerge from their limits, overflowing and bringing with them in a whirlwind houses and people in numbers that are not possible to count. It is the purification of the world as it plunges into sin. Hatred and ambition cause the destructive war!”

It had been widely assumed that the image in Third Secret indicated nuclear warfare, for the other two secrets had to do with World War One and World War Two (as well as the rise of Communism). There are those who believe that both John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev were granted a look at the Third Secret.

If anything, far more likely is that they were allowed to read the aforementioned explication of the secret.

But that enlightenment — while including war in coming events — seemed to skew things more in the direction of natural disturbances.

There are the mountains and cities buried. There are the sea and rivers emerging from their limits. There is mention of the “axis of the earth.” The question: Could nuclear war cause all of that?

The rub comes when we look at other aspects of the Third Secret.

During a trip to Germany in 1980, at the square of a cathedral at Fulda, Pope John Paul II was asked by a group of pilgrims why the secret hadn’t yet been revealed, claimed a periodical called Stimme des Glaubens. “Given the gravity of its contents, so as not to encourage the worldwide power of Communism to take certain steps, my predecessors in the chair of Peter preferred, out of diplomacy, to delay its publication,” it quoted Saint John Paul II as responding. “On the other hand, all Christians must be content with this: if it is a question of a message where it is said that the oceans will entirely flood certain parts of the earth, that from moment to moment millions will die, hearing this, people should not long for the rest of the secret.”

Through prayer, it was still possible, he said, to “diminish this trial.”

This exchange certainly seemed that the Pontiff had read Lucia’s enlightenment, especially when he mentioned ocean flooding.

And while that seemed to end the discussion — to take it beyond a simply nuclear conflagration and to the realm of geophysical disasters  — to consider are also the messages from the partly-approved messages in Akita, Japan, to the deaf nun-mystic Sister Agnes Sasagawa that among other things said, “As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead.”

Is that “fire” from nuclear bombs or from some other source (such as a volcano, comet, some other astronomical event, or, in a more metaphoric sense, cyber or electronic warfare?

And here it becomes yet more intriguing — although not not be universally accepted or verifiable.

For if valid, the Akita prophecy seems to tie into what was claimed by another German publication, Neues Europa, which in 1963 printed an alleged excerpt from a message sent to Kennedy and Kurshchev (in the midst of global tensions) by Pope Paul VI and obtained from diplomatic sources in Washington, London, and Moscow.

Neues Europa claimed (on October 15, 1963, a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis) that the secret excerpt said a great punishment was coming to mankind that would involve a “big, big war” and that “fire and smoke will fall from the sky and the waters of the oceans will be turned to steam — hurling their foam towards the sky, and all that is standing will be overthrown. Millions and more millions of men will lose their lives from one hour to the next, and those who remain living at that moment will envy those who are dead. There will be tribulation wherever the eye can see and misey over the earth and desolation in all countries.”

So: might nuclear weapons account, in fact, for what was mentioned in the enlightenment (to do with oceans and river emerging from their limits)?

If so, what about the mention of earth’s axis?

No number of current nuclear warheads could alter that in any significant way — at least not the geological-astronomical axial tilt of a planet. They couldn’t budge it a fraction — at least not in a common measurable sense.

But could they affect the geomagnetic axis, which is different?

As Wikipedia explains, “Earth’s magnetic field, also known as the geomagnetic field, is the magnetic field that extends from earth’s interior out into space, where it interacts with the solar wind, a stream of charged particles emanating from the sun.” Nuclear weapons or an electromagnetic pulse attack could affect magnetism.

Says Space Weather: “On July 9, 1962, the US military exploded a thermonuclear warhead 250 miles above the Pacific Ocean. What happened next surprised everyone. Witnesses from Hawaii to New Zealand reported auroras dancing overhead, magnificent midnight ‘rainbow stripes’ that tropical sky watchers had never seen before. Radios fell silent, then suddenly became noisy. Burglar alarms sounded as local streetlights in Honolulu went black.”

Here it gets more interesting yet: For the “great sign” of Fatima (predicted in the second secret as presaging world war) involved an extraordinary display of the aurora borealis (or “northern lights”) in 1938.

Does the coincidence imply electromagnetism as indeed a “future event”; and will an aurora warn us again, or play some role in what is to come before, during, or after?
