In the spiritual world, the most powerful words are the simplest.
The Lord and His Disciples conversed: simply.
The most powerful words are humble ones, especially these three:
Jesus is Lord.
No theologian is necessary.
Very straightforward.
It cuts through to the Truth.
In times of any trouble:
Jesus is Lord.
When fretting over money:
Jesus is Lord.
When fretting over loved ones:
Jesus is Lord.
When worrying over retirement:
Jesus is Lord.
How do we pay for our child’s college?
Jesus is Lord.
What is this strange pain I have?
Jesus is Lord.
How do I discern a vaccination?
Jesus is Lord.
There are so many voices. There are professional voices. There are voices on YouTube. It is the Tower of Babel. But:
Jesus is Lord.
Are we really facing apocalyptic events?
Jesus is Lord.
That’s the important “mantra.”
In these times — at all times — we also remember the refrain:
You are not of this world.
When letting oneself feel regret over not pursuing power, wealth, fame, remember:
You are not of this world.
When seeing how others judge on the basis of money, trouble not thyself but recall:
You are not of this world.
When you meet up against strange resistance, even rejection, perhaps from relatives, perhaps old friends, it may be because:
You are not of this world.
When wondering why you can’t stomach television, why you don’t get this joke or that joke, why obscenities stab your spirit, know always that with Grace:
You are not of this world.
When tempted to lust, to jealousy, to anger, to regret, to envy, to feud, to insult, to politics, to argumentation, remember:
You are not of this world.
And true that should be, if peace is to be yours.
You are not of this world. You are of the world where Jesus is King; Jesus is Savior; Jesus is at the right Hand of the Father; where Jesus is Lord.
