The most bizarre aspect of recent controversies — inside and outside the Church — is why society — whether a Pope or president of the United States — is so focused on homosexuals and now “transgenders,” when, besides the moral issue, which differentiates them from, say, a racial issue, they are such a tiny portion of the populace.
The percentage of Americans who identify as homosexual can vary depending on the source and methodology of the survey. However, recent surveys and studies typically find that about four to five percent of the U.S. population identifies as homosexual. The Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, which conducts research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy, has published estimates based on various surveys and analyses.
As of the last update in April 2023, their estimates suggested that approximately 0.6% of adults in the United States, or about 1.4 million adults, identify as transgender.
How such small numbers could preoccupy and sway and rock the entire culture indicates the devil at play.
In the U.S., besides its horrible preoccupation with abortion “rights,” one political party has all but thrown away its credibility due to its focus on transgenders, and now the Vatican is likewise taking water.
Yet let’s add also: there are many haters out there, on all sides, right now.
A good resolution: not to speak harshly of anyone.
