Different levels, different devils.
It’s more than a play on words.
For there are both different types of evil spirits, different levels of power, and different things they do.
This is brought home in a powerful way by a deliverance expert, Bob Larson, who has ministered to more than 50,000 during the past five decades and who, though nondenominational, adopts many features of Catholicism and especially laud the work of the late Father Gabriele Amorth, Rome’s most famous exorcist,
One can take the pithy rhyme to point out that demons can be everything from the figurative fly or scorpion to a behemoth or leviathan, from fallen angels to fallen archangels, powers, principalities, cherubim, seraphim, and, of course, Lucifer or Satan.
Those of low rank may cause little more than spiritual itches; little psychological ticks; perhaps a sniffle. Others can cause actual physical disruption, from raps and knocks to levitation and teleportation, and illness from a common cold to cancer.
The safest distance, when it comes to demons?
If you ask Larson, the safest distance is charging anything evil with a Crucifix and shouting the Name of Jesus.
Running away doesn’t work. The demons feed off fear. They are even more prone to harass and follow and charge.
It’s like Africa, where those going to see mountain gorillas are instructed to stand still—stand their ground—if a male gorilla charges.
Running away only encourages what it charging at you.
Stand your ground. Don’t seek out devils. But neither be afraid.
Don’t make any commands or any action whatsoever except in the Name of the Lord.
The safest words:
“The Lord rebuke you, Satan. The Lord rebuke you, Satan. The Lord rebuke you in the Name of Jesus.”
