Did you ever notice how Jesus never disparaged people by name?
And how He was obedient when it came to civil authority?
Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, He said without complaint. His Kingdom was not of this world. This world is a fallen one. It is why we detach from it.
The Pharisees and Sadduccees were another story: these the Lord castigated for their harsh legalism, their pretense of holiness. They served the letter of the law but not its spirit.
Whatever does not redound to love is hypocrisy.
The other question: if Jesus did not disparage people by name, how can those who enlist in a religion that professes to follow Him disparage others?
These are interesting questions to ponder at a time when obviously the Lord wants us — and is giving us the time — to ponder many things.
There is also this quote:
“Weak minds discuss people; average minds discuss events; strong minds discuss ideas.”
That comes to us from or at least is attributed to Socrates.
If you head for a lake or the ocean, watch the waves and remember that whether in the water or in daily life, the key is to ride them.
