The Lord certainly seems to speak through His vessels.
And from one, Sarah Young, was advice on complaining, of all things.
Now, none of us do that, do we?
If so, perhaps it’s a lack of trust.
When things don’t go perfectly (and on earth they never will), we are supposed to confide in Him, not stew over issues or “vent” to others.
“If you do what comes naturally in the face of difficulties, you may fall prey to negativism,” she quoted the Lord as “telling” her. “Even a few complaints can set you on a path that is a downward spiral, by darkening your perspective and mindset.
“With this attitude controlling you, complaints flow more and more readily from your mouth.”
And when that occurs (and really, to whom does it not?), down the slippery slope we go.
The lower, the faster. Ever notice that?
And yet, there is also the recourse to brakes, when we lean on—and confide only in—Jesus.
“Cry out to Me in My Name!” He says. “Affirm your trust in Me, regardless of how you feel. Thank Me for everything, though this seems unnatural–even irratinal.
“Gradually, you will begin to ascend, recovering our lost ground.
“You have been on a long, uphill journey, and your energy is almost spent.
“Though you have faltered at times, you have not let go of My hand. I am pleased with your desire to stay close to Me.
“There is one thing, however, that displeases Me: your tendency to complain. You may talk to Me as much as you like about the difficulty of the path we are following.
“I understand better than anyone else the stresses and strains that have afflicted you. You can ventilated safely to Me, because talking with Me tempers your thoughts and helps you see things from My perspective.”
Mull that over.
Complaints, complaints. We all have them. But they need not take their toll. They need not take us down.
Complaining to others just energizes the negative, and opens the door to sins like self-pity and rage.
“Whenever you are tempted to grumble, come to Me and talk it out. As you open up to Me, I will put My thoughts in your mind and My song in your heart.”
