There are two ways to view life.
There are also two ways to view yourself.
One is through a lens that is positive. When we do this, the Holy Spirit has the most room to operate.
God sends forth power through positivity.
Look for the silver lining on the cloud, because there is silver behind it.
The other way is through a lens that’s negative. The enemy loves working through that.
Negativity can tap into a force of darkness.
You know the old cliche: we can look at a glass as half empty or half full.
It makes a world of difference—every single moment of every single day; with every word, action, or even thought.
For our thoughts echo unto Heaven.
You know those electric cars at an amusement park—the ones that are powered by a pole that touches the ceiling, creating sparks?
We need to connect with God’s power, and we do so with faith. We need — when things seem “dead” — to cause that same kind of jolt, that connection, that spark.
When we pray, it helps to be specific. Somehow, this is preferred by the Lord, perhaps because He loves us engaging with Him. And the more specific we are, the longer do we talk!
Every prayer will be answered.
It doesn’t mean it will be answered in the way we sought. No.
But in the long-term — when it comes to the benefits to our souls — it will be the best way.
Remember always: when a door is closed in front of you, look for one that may be opening behind or to the side of you.
We’re here to grow. We’re here to serve. We’re here to learn in every circumstance how to love. For that, we have to view ourselves in a positive way. Only when we have a positive feeling toward ourselves can we get in touch with who we really are. Only when we are the essence of authenticity do we resonate with the person God created us to be. And only when we are authentic, when we love ourselves (not self-love, not narcissism, but view ourselves in His positive Light), can we fully love others and God Himself.
Oh, yes, be honest with yourself; acknowledge faults and missteps; seek forgiveness. Use humility when viewing yourself — at times, in a wretched state, as saints have said.
But don’t get mired in the past.
God and Heaven are about now. Past, present, and future don’t exist to Him.
So give yourself a break and see your good points and hear your best thoughts. Do this with others as well.
No, not in the way of Pollyanna. No, not to the point of naivete.
Rather, in the way of Jesus.
