You may remember the name James Wilburn Chauncey.
We interviewed him years ago for an article on his fascinating book detailing supposed prophecies he was given during a near-death experience, Eyewitness To Heaven.
One perplexing aspect: his visions of Russia joining China and Muslims in an invasion of the U.S. (after the U.S. was hobbled by tremendous geologic natural disasters).
Chauncey, who lives in Georgia (a retired businessman/engineer) adds, “What’s going on with Russia and China is pretty much right on track — the influx of the Arab people into other parts of Europe. I can’t even talk to my wife about it because she gets scared seeing it on the news. I had told her before and she had shrugged it off. Most shrugged this thing off. There’s also a great geologic event or events that I eye-witnessed, a great shake-up especially in this part of the world [see the current “special report”].”
A few weeks back, we carried the alleged visions of a retired businessman named James Wilburn Chauncey of Fayetteville, Georgia, who had a near-death experience in the 1940s as a child and during that experience claimed to have been shown snippets of the future, including major chastising events in the United States. For the past sixty years, he says, he has been consumed by what he believes he was shown. “Mountains had fallen; canyons disappeared; the courses of rivers were changed, and much land disappeared,” he says of this alleged vision of the near future (he is in his seventies and believes the events will occur after his death). “In the great land of North America, an enormous lake was formed in the upper-middle portion of America. Mountains had fallen; canyons disappeared. Portions of Texas and Arizona were now lakes. What had been deserts of the west were now green and lush with trees and vegetation. Asia, Africa, Europe, and the world over became lush with vegetation, clear water, lakes, and rivers, and an abundance of fish, fowl, and animal life.”
You get the point. He also saw major upheaval in the Middle East, focused on Syria, which would be invaded (perhaps by Iran) and later, the U.S. attacked by Russia, Muslims, and China — war all over, including nuclear destruction of major cities (starting with New York, Washington, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Jacksonville). Like so many, he saw California sinking.
The eruption of trade tensions with China and allegations of domestic interference by Russia — spurring talk of a new “cold war” — have brought face-front what seemed previously like implausible predictions.
For a long while, many who claim near-death experiences have proffered prophecies of invasions of the United States by both of these growing powers. With all its fortifications, an invasion of the U.S. by any foreign army remains all but impossible.
Yet recent turns of events cause a stiver of wonderment, for suddenly China and the U.S. are engaged in an incipient trade war — or at least a war of words (most recently, China calling America “arrogant,” and slapping on billions in tariffs in response to new announced U.S. tariffs) — and Russia has expelled U.S. and U.K. diplomats in response to U.S. and British expulsions of Russians (in the wake of suspicious poison or radioactive attacks on ex-Russian spies and journalists now residing in places such as England). There is also Russia’s nefarious support for Syria.Meanwhile, in a metaphoric yet real way, Russia already has launched an invasion, this time on the new battlefields of cyberspace, seeking to create false online-social-media news that causes political divisiveness, which in the U.S. is now at a level not seen since Robert E. Lee and Abraham Lincoln.
More ominous: in its same response to President Trump’s tariffs, China not only levied its own but also made a display of its warships, while Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been touting a new “invincible” nuclear missile called “Satan-2.”
There is the chance such tensions will evaporate as quickly as they have jettisoned: Putin may be meeting Trump at the White House, and the new Chinese tariffs may never be implemented. But for now it is most interesting, given certain words of knowledge.
According to Ned Dougherty, a former nightclub owner who “died” of a coronary on July 2, 1984, in the Hamptons, on Long Island, a “Lady of Light” showed him events that would first happen in the Middle East and then Italy. “I was told that these events would be acts of ‘aggression, terrorism, and war, performed by self-proclaimed radical groups, supposedly in the name of God,” he wrote before the events of September 11., flatly predicting too before the events that “terrorist attacks and acts of war and aggression will continue to plague the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.” He claims he was shown a future in which violence would spread from the Middle East to Europe, and then to the former Soviet Union and to the Far East — particularly China.
The greatest threat, he was supposedly shown — at least for our pondering — would come from China and a “two hundred million army” (see Revelation 9:16; [as depicted above in the London Star]). “The Lady of Light specifically told me, ‘Pray for the conversion of China,’” claimed Dougherty. “‘The conversion of China to God is necessary for the salvation of the world.’”
Right now, despite some reapproachment of China by the Vatican, Christians remain a tiny oppressed minority there. Most recently, online bibles were banned there — not exactly the indication of a religious thaw.
Years ago we had the account of a Georgia man named James Wilburn Chauncey of Georgia who as a child had a near-death experience in which, among other matters, he was shown dramatic future earthly events. Among his many visions was one of Russia swarming over and around Syria and joining Muslims in a long war with the United States.
Chauncey, a retired businessman and engineer, and author of Eyewitness To Heaven, told us, “What’s going on with Russia and China is pretty much right on track — the influx of the Arab people into other parts of Europe. I can’t even talk to my wife about it because she gets scared seeing it on the news. I had told her before and she had shrugged it off. Most shrugged this thing off. There’s also a great geologic event or events that I eye-witnessed, a great shake-up especially in this part of the world.” We had detailed “special reports” on him.
“The nuclear war, when I saw it — it’s that, if they do something crazy, China will join North Korea,” said another near-deather, Sondra Abrhams, nearly two decades ago — reiterated to us recently. “Don’t think they won’t. Jesus said, ‘All will be lost, few will remain, if they don’t come back to My Father.’” It reminds us of the message in Akita, Japan. That too was the Blessed Mother.
When everything “explodes,” a Muslim jihad will be in the first series of events, believes a Midwest man, but “that’s not the real danger. The real external threat comes from the Red Dragon, China.
“Now for some specifics,” adds this alleged and controversial (though extremely insightful) seer.
“From the beginning I had insisted that there would be a rise in wide-scale stark terror as a primary method in this storm. I had written in ’01 that we would see a significant warming in our relations with Russia for a while, followed by them dramatically hitting the rocks again. But I told the priests [who serve as his spiritual directors] to keep their eye on Russia, because in the end she will be our most steadfast and reliable ally. As I have also said since the start, the storm ‘…will break through North Korea, but will not be centered in North Korea.’ That is specific language that has been used with me and you can speculate endlessly about what it means.
“In the early years, Jihad will seem the great battle. Certainly, it is the most showy and determined. But it will collapse more quickly and easily than people can imagine – once we understand that it is a battle that we can’t negotiate our way out of. But Jihad is not the most dangerous of the bad actors – it is China. It will take some years for us to see that China is the real center and the real implacable enemy of western civilization. China may already be the most militarily strong nation in the world. It will be the challenge posed by China, once she is fully unmasked, that drives Russia into the west and common cause with America.”
(The Archdiocese of Denver released a statement on March 7, 2015, with a warning from the archbishop “to exercise prudence and caution in regards to his alleged divine visions and messages.” The statement also announced that he would not be approved as a speaker in the Archdiocese of Denver.)
At Lipa, in the Philippines — an apparition that was alternately rejected, accepted, and now rejected again — a seer named Teresita Castilla whose case has been reopened after rejection decades ago claimed she had secrets. “I’ll tell you this much,” she said to a journalist. “One is for China, not Russia (which was the focus of the Fatima secrets).”
Meanwhile, the alleged Ukrainian mystic Josyp Terelya foresaw war between Russia and China, while Maria Esperanza of Venezuela foresaw a day when the “yellow races will rise up.”
