There it was the other day—or possibly seemed to be: the answer to a riddle spawned by Sister Lucia dos Santos of Fatima eighty years ago and also Maria Esperanza of Betania, Venezuela.
They claimed to have been given predictions of gigantic disruptions in the way of the earth’s axis or its core. (We discussed this at our last retreat.)
One headline last week on a national network:
“Earth’s core has slowed so much it’s moving backward, scientists confirm”
Scientists insist that this won’t affect the surface all that much but acknowledge that they don’t know for sure—are not even sure of the core’s actual size or composition. There’s a difference, then, between the earth’s axis and its core: The latter is an actual physical construct of the planet, an estimated three thousand miles below our feet, primarily a solid ball of nickel and iron (they theorize) with a radius of about 760 miles (or twenty percent of earth’s radius).
According to a press release from the University of Southern California, a new study provides “unambiguous evidence” that the inner core began to slow down around 2010, moving slower than the earth’s surface. The question: Would a shift in axis affect the core, or vice versa: Would a change in the core affect the planet’s tilt?
Sister Lucia said she was shown in 1944 that in the Third Secret (that image of an angel ready to touch the earth with a flaming spear), “The tip of the spear as a flame unlatches and touches the axis of the earth. It shudders. Mountains, cities, towns, and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, the rivers, and the clouds emerge from their limits, overflowing and bringing with them in a whirlwind houses and people in numbers that are not possible to count. It is the purification of the world as it plunges into sin. Hatred and ambition cause the destructive war!”
As for Esperanza, in the 1990s that great mystic said, “There will be much upheaval. There will be some societal chaos. Our Lady is coming to lighten the chastisements. There will be problems and certain natural calamities. I see little quakes and certain others. The core of the earth, it is not in balance. A very difficult moment will arrive, but there will remain good because the Light and Grace of the Holy Spirit will always illuminate a few people who desire justice in the world—the truth and recognition of Jesus with His Love throughout all time.”
Any number of those who supposedly have “died” and returned likewise claim to have been shown major earth changes. Two prominent ones said they were shown that one day America would be split by a wide body of water, a lake or gulf, approximately where the Mississippi currently is, and that it would be two-to-four hundred miles wide reaching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes (while many parts of the East and West Coasts would find their geography radically altered by quakes and tsunamis).
Geophysical change?
It’s all for discernment.
The times are quickening.
With prayer (and fasting), we can stave such things off.
But it’s probably also true that time runs short.

[Footnote from the London Daily Mail (caution tabloid): “If it feels like the days are dragging on more than usual lately, scientists say that you might not be alone. Researchers from ETH Zurich have revealed that climate change is causing the length of days on Earth to increase at an ‘unprecedented’ rate. As polar ice melts in Greenland and Antarctica, the Earth’s center of gravity shifts towards the equator, gradually slowing down the planet’s rotation.]
