A curse without cause cannot land, cannot stay with us, cannot harm, says the Holy Book.

It’s Proverbs 26:1-3: “Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool. Like a sparrow in its  flitting, like a swallow in its flying, so a curse without cause does not  alight.”

There are curses, but:

“How can I curse whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?” (Numbers 23:20).

When there is cause, darkness stares and glares and ensnares us.

What are some “causes”?

Jealousy.

Anger.

Pride.

Unforgiveness (much bigger a thing than you think).

Lust.

Profanity.

Gambling.

Materialism.

Worldliness.

Delight in the misfortunes of others.

Idolatry of any kind.

Argumentation. Darkness feeds off this energy.

If things seem askew in your life, perhaps a series of unfortunate events, or outright disasters, consider what may be operating in the wings.

Behind the curtain may be the wizard of curses, assigning demons in accordance with the transgression: dark presences that grow the more we ignore and harbor them.

Have you not seen this?

Remember: “The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the abode of the righteous” (Proverbs 3:33).

You just keep stumbling. Irritation builds with no solution. You feel plagued.

That’s because you are plagued. Something has “hooked” onto you, like a weight on your brain or a large insect at the back of your neck.

Whatsoever ye touch seems for naught: comes to no good effect.

Dishonesty. Rudeness. Disrespect. These all come with a curse or could be the cause of one.

We can also hex ourselves. “I’ll never be able to do that.” “I’m so dumb.” “I’ll never amount to anything.”

‘Tis the season to consider curses in our lives and also how to break them. Reverse the curse. (“The Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you”–Deuteronomy 23:25)

That comes by way of the Precious Blood.

“I plead the Blood of Jesus over my life, over my weaknesses, over my failures, over my doubts, over my health, over my finances, over my thinking, over my insecurities,  over my transgressions, over my selfishness, over my doubt, over my stress.”

“No curse can alight where there is no cause. I stand in righteousness by the Blood. I close every open door. I shut every legal access. I declare every evil word falls to the ground, void of power.”

“Let them curse, but you will bless!” (Psalm 109:28).

Or pray this litany.

[Another prayer, offered by the famous evangelist Derek Prince: “Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You are the Son of God and the only way to God, that you died on the Cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. On the basis of what You did for me I believe Satan’s claims against me are canceled. And so now, Lord Jesus, I submit myself to You, I commit myself to serve and obey You. And, on that basis I take my stand against every dark, evil force that in any way has come into my life, whether it be through my own acts or acts of my family or of my ancestors or of something larger that I’m a part of. Wherever there’s any darkness in my life, any evil force, Lord, I renounce it now. I refuse any longer to submit and in the Almighty name of Jesus, the Son of God, I take authority over all these evil forces. I loose myself from them and I release myself entirely from their power. I drive them from me now in the name of Jesus. I invite and invoke the Holy Spirit of God to move right in and make my deliverance and my liberation fully effectual as only the Spirit of God can do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”]
