It’s a question we have asked a number of times, as regards Venezuela.

It was there the late great seer Maria Esperanza of Caracas made an esoteric remark that perhaps will take on realization.

“It will begin here,” she said, when asked about major events looming in the future — or at least, aspects of such events.

In the early 1990s, when the remark first circulated widely, it was perplexing. Venezuela simply was not a major player on the world stage, nor a major foreign policy concern for the U.S.

But with the rise of Nicolás Maduro to dictatorship, that all changed, and now his and his wife’s capture by the U.S. have raised international stakes.

How will other nations react? Russia? China?

Will the Russians now feel freer to wage wide-scale war on Ukraine and perhaps some neighbors?

Will China feel free to finally do what many have been fretting about for months: seize Taiwan?

And what about other international players (such as North Korea)?

What will occur in Venezuela itself?

Could it all eventually lead to a third world war, as Europeans seem to be fretting?

Strikingly, both Venezuela and Ukraine were the foci of apparitions of the Virgin Mary and warnings about the future (Esperanza and the site of Betania in Venezuela, Josyp Terelya and sites such as Hrushiw in Ukraine: see the books Witness and The Final Hour).

Though ignored by standard Catholic websites, the revelations have been prominent among followers of other spots of apparition such as Medjugorje in Hercegovina.

Are there times when the Lord or His Blessed Mother alerts us subtly — so subtly that it nearly seems like a riddle?

“It will begin here,” Esperanza, to repeat, said, when asked about major events looming in the future — or at least, aspects of such events.

It was never clear and for now remains unclear exactly what might start in Venezuela.

But the remark becomes interesting in light of another quote from Esperanza. “The yellow races,” she once told us (and meaning no ethnic disrespect), “will stand up.”

That was said in December of 1991, and of course one could take this as relating to any number of Oriental nations including North Korea, and, more ominously, China.
